演講題目: Transformation, Reaction, and Organization of Functional Nanostructures using Microreactor-Assisted Nanomaterial Deposition

摘要:

Nanomaterials have revolutionized fields such as medicine, electronics, sensing, energy storage and harvesting, catalysis, and more. As such, a key goal towards unlocking the application of nanomaterials in these fields starts with the ability to tune nanomaterial properties such as size, shape, morphology, and composition to improve material performance for targeted applications selectively. Chemical synthesis of nanomaterials is often complex and sensitive to the process conditions. Process intensification has the potential to control the spatial, thermodynamic, functional, and temporal domains to intensify the chemical manufacturing of nanomaterials. Guided by the principles of process intensification, Microreactor-assisted nanomaterial deposition (MAND) has been demonstrated as a promising platform for scalable nanomaterial synthesis of molecule and nanoscale building blocks at the point of use to manufacture functional nanostructured materials. In this talk, I will discuss the use of MAND systems to tailor the reacting flux, transporting to substrate surfaces via controlling process parameters on the formation and/or transformation of intermediary reactive molecules, nanoclusters, nanoparticles, and structured assemblies to fabricate functional materials and devices.

講者簡介:

Chih-hung (Alex) Chang is currently a Professor of Chemical Engineering and Material Science, Stephen Slavens Family Scholar, and Associate Head of Undergraduate Programs in the School of Chemical, Biological, and Environmental Engineering at the Oregon State University. Chih-hung received his BS degree in ChE from NTU and PhD in ChE from the University of Florida. He was a visiting Associate Professor at NTU MSE, working with Prof. Wei-Fang Su in 2008. His research group has studied thin film deposition processes, integrated chemical systems, scalable additive manufacturing, thin film materials, and devices and is among the first to report inkjet printing amorphous oxide TFTs and CIGS solar cells. Microreactor-assisted nanomaterial Deposition, MAND, a technique that was developed jointly by his group, was recognized by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers as the 2011 SME "Innovations That Could Change the Way You Manufacture" Watch List. Chih-hung is a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, a SHARP Labs of America scholar, an Intel Faculty Fellow, and a recipient of the AVS Graduate Research award, the US National Science Foundation's Early CAREER award, and awardee of the W.M. Keck Foundation and Walmart Manufacturing Innovation Foundation. He is the Founder and Director of the Oregon Process Innovation Center, part of the NSF's National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure program. Chih-hung is a co-founder and director of Pellucere Technologies Inc. and an Editor of IEEE J. of Photovoltaics. He enjoys teaching thermodynamics and energy technologies to all levels of students.
